Rev. Rubin Earl Ancrum


Rev. Rubin Earl Ancrum, the ninth born child of the late John and Louise Ancrum, in Charleston, South Carolina. He attended St. Andrews County schools and graduated from St. Andrews High School of Charleston.  He grew up a member of Graham A. M. E. Church where his father was an associate pastor.

Rev. Ancrum lived and worked in New York and Washington, D. C. areas before journeying to Florida in 1977.  A brick mason by trade, he came to visit a friend in the metropolis city of Sebring and began working on now what is called Martin Luther King Terrace. During this time, he started to attend Greater Mt. Zion A. M. E. Church, Sebring. 

Rev. Ancrum was called to preach under the leadership of Rev. James S. Morice and Presiding Elder Clarence W. Hunt.  He attended and completed the required classes under the teaching of Rev. J. R. Campbell and Rev. Josephus Johnson.  He received his first charge October, 1989 at Allen Temple AMEC, in Gomez, Florida.  In October, 1991 he was relocated to Bethel AMEC, in Desoto City, Florida.  He ministered to the people of Highlands County and the town of Desoto City for 13 years.  He began his 14th year at Bethel but was relocated to Greater Mt. Zion AMEC, Sebring, in November, 2005.  He pastored Greater Mt. Zion for five years before being relocated to St. Paul A. M. E. Church, Ft. Meade, Florida in November, 2010.

Rev. Ancrum married Sister Blanche Lewis in December 1978; has four children, Luke Dina, Brandi and Justin and they have Fourteen grandchildren and Three great-grand.
